In this short note I describe the behaviour of a female Anthrax trifasciatus, picking up wood frass with her abdomen, rather than sand or dirt.
Coenosia attenuata can behave like a falconers bird
 | Coenosia attenuata (Diptera: Muscidae) - a predatory fly which can behave like both a falconers bird and a retriever. Can you imagine using predatory flies in the way the birds of prey are used in falconry? It sounds crazy but in the case of Coenosia attenuata such illusion can be almost perfect. You can place the selected individual fly on your hand and come close to some insect in the air. Your predator flies up and turns back with a captured prey to the same site on your hand. Fly bubble blowing
