Bibionidae: Bibio reticulatus

Hello, I photographed this fly near Lago di Campotosto (AQ), Italy, 1300m a.s.l. on May 20th 2022. I think it is a Bibio, but is it possible to identify its species from these photos? Thank you in advance, Emanuele Edited by ESant on 21-02-2024 13:18 |

Note the strong vein in posterior part of wing. This can be tricky to see in some lights, but here it is very consistent. Tibiae are pretty dark (though not all black). All point to Bibio reticulatus. Theo |
