Chironomidae: Orthocladiinae sp. ♀

Hello, I photographed this fly in Bazzano (AQ), Italy on March 19th 2021. I think it is a Chironomidae, but is it possible to identify its genus or species from these photos? Thank you in advance, Emanuele Edited by ESant on 07-04-2021 23:11 |

Appears to be a female Orthocladiinae. I don't think I can say more.

Thank you anyway, Tony. The only thing I can add is that it was much bigger than the usual Orthocladiinae found in the area: it reached 7-8mm in length. |
