Nearly black, slender Calliphorid (28.04.21) --> Bellardia sp.
Juergen Peters
Hallo zusammen,

unfortunately I only got this single photo from a distance. I was thinking, one of the usual Helina evecta males was sunbathing there on a stone near the forest border (northwest Germany).

Hi Jürgen, it's probably a male Bellardia.

Greetings, Eric

Thank you, Eric. Seems to be not easy. Another user (in my own forum) thinks, it is a Melinda. Myself I tended to Protophormia terraenovae...
Best regards,
Jürgen

Hallo Jürgen,

I'll attach images of the three candidates Bellardia, Melinda, Protophormia and hope, it will help a bit.

Greetings, Eric

1st Bellardia viarum male

eklans
2nd Melinda viridicyanea female (no male yet)

eklans
3rd Protophormia terraenovae male

The vertex is very narrow, which points to male Bellardia. The calypter seems yellow- brown and not white (but difficult to see), again suggesting Bellardia.

Many thanks Theo and Eric (to you especially for the pictures)!
