I think it's probably a Phaonia of some sort (so, yes, Muscidae).

My vote goes to 'probably Phaonia'. It is not a Lispe, that much is sure (sorry Theo).

I would have thought we might have seen a posterodorsal on the hind tibia if it was Phaonia (unless its been knocked off). What about something like Mydaea nebulosa?

I vote for Phaonia too. If I remember correct: 1. Mydaea has more shining mesonotum 2. Mydaea hasn't infuscated crossveins 3. Mydaea hasn't such a hairy eyes Nikita Vikhrev - Zool Museum of Moscow University |
