Grey muscid, I think...

This, I think, is a muscid, but not sure though.

I think it's probably a Phaonia of some sort (so, yes, Muscidae).

It is actually far outside the region of my competence, however, the palpi looks strongly clavate suggsting Lispe.

My vote goes to 'probably Phaonia'. It is not a Lispe, that much is sure (sorry Theo).

I would have thought we might have seen a posterodorsal on the hind tibia if it was Phaonia (unless its been knocked off). What about something like Mydaea nebulosa?

I vote for Phaonia too. If I remember correct:
1. Mydaea has more shining mesonotum
2. Mydaea hasn't infuscated crossveins
3. Mydaea hasn't such a hairy eyes

Tried to attach an image to a forum post. jpg, 32kB, 72dpi, no blanks, ... File name is correctly displayed, but when I click "Preview Thread" it just vanishes. Help!
