Germany, Baden-Württemberg, district Karlsruhe, Karlsbad-Spielberg, ca. 10 - 12 mm, 340 m, in a garden, found date 16.05.2021, Xanthogramma pedissequum, male? Thanks, Gerold Franke

No, the darkened wing tips and the dark hind legs make this male X. dives (compare https://www.insek...x?id=66089). A good lateral view of the thorax showing the arrangement of yellow patches would confirm the ID (see https://www.resea..._Syrphidae p. 30), but I think we are safe with X. dives. Regards, Sundew |
