Phyto melanocephala? <
Dennis
Hallo

Bavaria, Middle of June.
Found in a bavarian garden on Ligustrum.

Someone already determined the fly as Phyto sp. Is there a further determination possible?

Regards,
Dennis

Your label R4 points to M and R5 points to Cu.

Thank you John,

its the first time I try myself on wing venation.
Is it this time correct?
I read, that there must be a short stalk, which is shorter then r-m. Where would the stalk be on the wing?

Regards,
Dennis

Hi Dennis, I've marked the position of the petiole with the green circle and I'm quite sure it is Phyto melanocephala.

Here it is!

And Eric was faster... (stalk = petiole)

In all the muscoid flies veins R4 and R5 are fused together, as are R2 and R3. Crossvein r-m connects veins R4+5 and M. Vein M runs from near the base of the wing to the wingtip, in most Oestroidea and some Muscidae curving forward towards R4+5.

Thank you all for your answers!
The glossary is a good tip, too, if I can only find english articles about some species.

Regards,
Dennis
