At rivers edge, on Hogweed I believe.

Oscinella sp. seemed like the only match in the gallery, with the thickened white aristae.
The reddish halteres seem distinctive too, though couldn't see one like that listed.

Overall, a fine fly.
Looks a bit like a superhero or a supervillain.

Tried to attach an image to a forum post. jpg, 32kB, 72dpi, no blanks, ... File name is correctly displayed, but when I click "Preview Thread" it just vanishes. Help!
