Zeuxia sp, Tachinidae, July 4, Pomáz, Hungary
Xespok
I am not sure what this could be. It was observing the copula of Stenopogon cf sabaudus from very close.

Clearly a Zeuxia. It is a bit red for cinerea, your default species.

Based on Trshorsnig's key this should be cinerea, as petiole of R5 at least as long as 2/5 of the post-angular vein.

Other possibilities would be brevicornis and subapennina, however they should have much shorter petioles, if at all, and the posetrior edges of tergites are not shiny black, so these two species can be ruled out.

Zeuxia tessellata also occurs in Hungary, it is primarily a mediterranean species. The location that I photographed this fly has a very mediterranean climate, with many mediterranean species present, so maybe this is tessellata, but I found no info how that species looks like.

Zeuxia erythraea could possibly occur in Hungary. Other Zeuxia spp are unlikely to be present.
