Hi, I took a picture of this orange fly in our garden at the hedge, where it was sitting on a leaf. Based on some pictures in the web (e.g. https://diptera.i...o_id=10659 ) I would speculate that it could be Chrysopilus laetus. Is it possible to confirm or reject that speculation based on the picture below? Yes, that is correct. You can see the wing tip is darkened as well. According to the literature, this would indicate Ch. pullus, but some /many laetus have this feature. See the very new article by myself and others in Entomologische Berichten. Theo |
