Tachinidae from Belgium for ID pictured 2021-08-11 > Tricogena rubricosa
Tetrao
I pictured this specimen in Belgium on 2021-08-11.
Could it be Dinera grisescens (Fallén, 1817) or something like ?

Hi, I don't think it's a Dinera - possibly a Macquartia?
Greetings, Eric Kloeckner

Thank you very much, Eric !

It is difficult to explain why, but it doesn't "feel" Tachinidae. And it is not. It is Trichogena (true believers of the Code skip the 'h'Wink rubricosa, Rhinophoridae.
The colouration of the antenna is pretty distinctive (but cf. Cinochira in case of the very small black fly).

Thank you very much, Theo !!!
I will measure it on picture…
Great news for me !

Tetrao
I measured this specimen on picture : 5,5 to 6 mm ...
Is that enought to make this female a Tricogena rubricosa ?
I already change the name on the record in obervations.be !

Zeegers
Yes, no worries, check the gallery for Cinochira, totally different.

This is Trichogena no doubt (I do correct Rondani's misspellings)

A new species for me !

I added some pictures on observations.be

I noticied that the femurs look a little red ...

I looked on other subjects in the forum and noted a great variability ...

Zeegers
Yes. On average, they tend to be more reddish. Please note the red tip to,scutellum as well.
