Is here a species ID possible? Found on flowers of Aristolochia clematitis on Danube Island, Vienna in mid August.

Chloropidae, Trachysiphonella spec. is correct. The depth of the gena and the length of the proboscis is very variable in T. ruficeps and T. scutellata. The bigger latter species normally has three robust lateral scutellar setae in addition to the apical seta, different from the above images. The larval substrate of all Trachysiphonella spp. is unknown. Females of Trachysiphonella species are known as specific pollinators of Aristolochia and Ceropegia flowers with a highly interesting tritrophic attraction biology in which the odor of preyed Heteroptera plays an important role. Read eight publications of A. Heiduk et al. (2010 till 2021) and B. Oelschlägel (2014, New Phytologist 206: 342-351; 2016, Plant Biology 18: 928-937).
