Sarcophagidae with golden parafacialia--> Amobia signata
rafael_carbonell
One of a pair of flesh flies reared from a Crabronidae nest, 8/july/2021 (Spain: Catalonia: Girona: Girona city), 7.2 mm. Any guess of a species?

Thanks John, here in Spain there are only two species recorded, A.oculata and A.signata. It looks different to them, and somehow similar to the australian A.auriceps, but being a female it must be difficult to run a species, I guess

?? Looks like a male to me. Check the genitalia

Thanks Theo. It is in the steam chamber now. I was used to e. g. Lucilia males with well exserted genitalia and so I thought it was a female...

Zeegers
Well, genitalia are highly informative in Amobia, so keep us posted

We need a lateral shot (of the genitalia)

With only transmitted light

Should I macerate it more time ? Or split the capsule from the rest ? I only hope is not too late

Jan Willem
I guess this should be Amobia signata, but let the experts respond!

Yes, he can !

Very clearly A. signata (unless you have some cryptic Iberian endemic)
