von Tschirnhaus
Chloropidae, Elachiptera cornuta (Fallén,1820), one of the most common European Oscinellinae. But under this name two species continuously are mixed up. They can be distinguished by their male genitalia, e.g. the epandrium of the first is distinctly larger than that of the second. Type studies of cornuta and its synonyms (annulipes von Roser, 1840; femoralis Meigen,1838; flaviventris von Roser,1840; fuscipes von Roser,1840; nigromaculata Strobl,1894; nuda Duda,1932) are nesessary to order the correct names to both species. In the meantime the former synonyms nigripes (Strobl,1894) and strobli (Corti,1909) were confirmed as valid species. Nearctic species must be compared, too. An overview on the genus by von Tschirnhaus (2017): Zoosystematica rossica 26(2): 337-368.
