Chyromya? Sapromyza?
Sundew
Hello,
This fly is obviously an Entomophthora victim according to the swollen abdomen and the conidia that stick to the scutellar setae. The legs, somewhat damaged, are hairy but show no spurs or strong bristles. My guess is Sapromyza (Lauxaniidae), but sound objection is gratefully accepted, too!

More details.

You don't mention size but this looks like Chyromya flava to me. That should be only a few mm big, Sapromyza is bigger.

I agree with Paul that this is Chyromya but it is a female so cannot be named to species, i know of no characters to separate flava from femorella and britannica is also very similar in this sex. having said that i am not convinced by that flava and femorella males can be separated, thay are probably conspecific.

Andrzej you sound very confident! i have done some little research into this genus and was unable to find characters to separate female flava and femorellum , and even males semed to be no more than a cline (but this is not conclusive), there certainly do not seem to be any genetalaic differences. however, it is possible that my failure here is because i have never seen a genuine flava, all British specimens being referable to femorellum. i would be most grateful if you could let me know how i might distinguish these two species Wink

Dear Paul, you wrote
You don't mention size
but in all my stereomicroscopic pics I give a mm scale bar (see uppermost left pic) for comparison Wink!
I am looking forward to a final statement, otherwise I name the fly Chyromya cf. flava.
