I think now this should be Cliorismia rustica. Habitat on the Danube Island was a clear poplar/willow forest with sandy ground. Confirm? I am still struggling with this specimen, despite microscoping the genitalia. Comparing the structure e.g. here, it seems to be intermediate between C. rustica and C. ardea. Any idea? I don't have access, but would be interested to know whether in Stubbs & Drake (2001) British soldierflies and their allies there are other features mentioned that separates the two species - or can just the aedeagus be used?
