Tachinid fly?
wilde
On 29-5-2007 I saw in my garden (Koudekerke, Netherlands) a fly that looked like a Tachinid. I made 1 close-up picture, but the fly didn't like the twin-flash at all and was gone. So I only have this close-up of the head. I think it is a Tachinid. It looks a bit like the Baumhaueria microps (female) close-up in the photo gallery. Could this be the same or am I completely wrong? Is it a male?

Impossible for me to say, not sure about Theo but I suspect he will have the same trouble if we can't see any of the wings or body Sad

Is it possible to determine that it is a Tachinid fly? And which gender?

Thank you for the ID. Is it a male or female?

It's female.

Just to make it clear: it's hardly ever possible to ID a Tachinid from such a picture.
