Could it be a Proceroplatus (keroplatidae) ?
Pierre-Yves
hello,

On December 13, 2021 I caught a specimen of keroplatidae diptera at the window of my house in Brittany in France.
After some research it seems to be close to Proceroplatus sp. but this genera isn't known in Europe.
What do you think ? (body lenght = 4 mm)

Thank you for your help.

Possibly Proceroplatus trinidadensis, which has been spread accidentally to Europe. Being a tropical species it probably only survives in cultivated plants indoors.

Chandler, Peter J. and Juliette Pijnakker. 2009. Tropical fungus gnats established in the Netherlands (Diptera, Keroplatidae and Mycetophilidae). Br. J. Ent. Nat. Hist. 22 (https://www.resea...ilidae.pdf)

Thank you very much for your answer John !

My sample match very well with description and genitalia drawing of P. trinidadensis
Do you know if the species has been reported elsewhere than in the Netherlands ?
