Hi Jorge.

Thanks! Cool

And now next question: is it possible to determine what species?
Greetings

I don?t know all Phaonia. There are, at least, about 60 species in Palearctic biozone. Frown It would help to see the hind tibia clearly...

Ok, - and it is not possible, this was the only picture I got of this fly.

Thanks for your help.

I didn't tell it was impossible. Only I don't know all Phaonia. Someone more knowledgeable could tell more here. But to me this is not P. rufiventris. For example the base of antenna is not yellow in this case! Lateral thorax is not yellow. Only tibiae seems to be yellow. Usually P. rufiventris have yellow in these features. If this is P. rufiventris I would be very surprised. Smile

ok. I discussed with my friend St?phane Lebrun, and he gave me good tips. This could be Phaonia subventa (90% probabilities to be).
Aristal hair is long; abdomen has mid black stripes; eyes densely haired; clearly 2 strong acrostichal setae in presutural scutum; and 4postsutural.
the colour of the legs fits well for this species. I would like to know if someone disagree. Wink
