Hello, yesterday photographed this striking fly in the garden on a sidewalk slab. Is this Gonia picea? Germany, Saarland, Bexbach, Garden, Absolute Altitude 250 m, 11.04.2022 Greetings, Volker |

No. Let me make a clear warning not to use abdominal colouration in identification: highly unreliable. This is a (melanistic) Gonia divisa (or a G. foersteri, a species o unclear nature) Theo |

Hello Theo, thank you very much for your quick reply. Should I then better write a cf. in the name or is G. divisa ok? Edited by Volker on 12-04-2022 07:33 |
