Hi, A long shot I know but does anyone recognise this Cecidomyiidae reared from Lipara galls on Phragmites in southern England? Based on rearing could it be Asynapta phragmitis? If so I can't find any key or information to confirm this. Thanks for any help, Sam |

The curled up tail is typical of Asynaptini. I am unsure of genus. Jaschhof and Jaschhof (2013) write of Asynapta phragmitis, "This Asynapta is peculiar for having narrow wings (W.I. 2.9-3.3) and a comparatively short eye bridge that is only 3 ommatidia long dorsally." |

Thanks John. Both those characters seem to fit so likely this species but won't call it definite. |
