Hi, Recently, I had the opportunity to examine the specimen photographed here (https://www.inatu.../111982731). Based on the developed postscutellum and wide calyptrae I believe it belongs to Tachinidae, but I can't narrow it down more than that... Does anyone have an idea about the subfamily or even genus species (especially @Zeegers)? I can provide more photos of the specimen if needed (total length ca. 5 mm). P.S. I can't upload my stereoscopic photos here, because their size exceeds 300 Kb. However, I made this ''dummy'' observation in iNaturalist, where I will put the photos of the characters thata are needed for the identification (https://www.inatu.../112859608). Afterwards, I will delete it and add the proper Thanks in advance! |

still, it is policy to post your pics here (as well). Reason: if anything changes on Inaturalist, for instance photos get deleted, this post will be ome ununderstandable. You can easily downsize your pics, for instance with www. pixlr.com. Theo |

I managed to resize my pictures, so as to make them available here as well. I also deleted the ''dummy'' observation, because it is pointless now. Below, I provide what I have photographed until now, with some explanations on the photos. Could the specimen be a Leucostoma? |

Thank you. Your arrow pointing to the supposedly postscutellum points much too low. The postscutellum is much higher, a very narrow ridge just below the scutellum. Hence not swollen. This is a Nyctia (Sarcophagidae) Theo |
