this bibio was about 6-8mm, found in Germany, Northrhine-Westfalia, Recklinghausen, altitude 85m, 4. 5. 2022 could it be Bibio johannis or Bibio reticulatus greetings Angelika/Reimund Edited by Reimund Ley on 25-05-2022 18:44 |

Hi, Bibio females are difficult or impossible to identify and usually you will need minimum dorsal and lateral views. But I think I exclude reticulatus, which has hyaline wings and johannis, which has a short head and almost hyaline wings. (Verbeke key) I guess it could be varipes - on your first image I think I see a light haltere. But it's is not sure! Greetings, Eric Kloeckner |
