Great Tachinidae from Bavarian Alps -> Tachina fera
Rupert Huber
Hi all!

Here I'm far away from even only identifying the genus... maybe Peleteria?
Any chance for ID?

Approx. 12-15 mm

16.7.2022, Germany, Upper Bavaria, near the summit of Mt. Hochfelln, ~1650m asl, coordinates 47.76216, 12.55969

Female Tachina fera, I think:
broad frons
proclinate oe
brown front tarsus
abdomen: median stripe pointed

Many thanks John and Eric for ID and yet more for the explanation!
At my next find I'll try to work with that.

You may find: "Die Raupenfliegen (Diptera: Tachinidae) Mitteleuropas" by Tschorsnig and Herting very useful - available as a PDF in the web.

Oh yes, thanks, this may be really useful for me. And it's in German! Makes it way easier. Smile
