From the side, the patterns on the abdomen appear to be tinged with yellow. |

But depending on the light and the angle of view the patterns on the abdomen can appear black and white. |

Thank you very much Eric, After your recent identification of a male Pollenia, I thought it was the female but I thought the thorax patterns were quite different and doubted. |

Pollenia sp. are quite tricky as they loose their golden or silver hair with age. So you will find the same species completely bald with only a few hairs on the side of the thorax or with a dense golden/silver fleece.
