Tephritis bardanae ?
Robert Heemskerk
hi flyforum,

I was wondering if this fly is Tephritis bardanae?
The fly was seen in the south-east of Holland on 2007-07-25

Thanx in advance,

The picture was made by Lo troisfontaine.

Looks familiar... but let's wait for the specialist.

Certainly Tephritis bardanae (Schrank). Furthermore, it sits on an Arctium leaf, so no doubts...

Thank you very much, so it is not Tephritis formosa?
They look a bit equal?

Differences are not so clear; but it can be a formosa (I have a short series home to see): posterobasally pattern is a bit too expressed for bardanae. Sorry. I'll be back this evening with an ansewer, which is not so quick. OK?

Hi all,

It's indeed Tephritis formosa, as suggested by Valery Korneyev!
The wing pattern has a much greater coverrage than T. bardanae.
