Drospophilidae (or not)
serenense7
Good morning,
I submit to your lights this very small fly (the size indicated is probably overestimated), which had posed near the fruit basket a few days ago... (Arc-et-Senans, Franche-Comté, France ). The wing venation seems to go in the direction of Drosophilidae or a small close family. The appearance is reminiscent of the Drosophila obscura group but I have no certainty. Can you give me some information to help me determine it? Thanking you. Luc Bettinelli

It is a female of Drosophila obscura group, you are right. In the lower inset of the second picture (showing head and mesonotum) we can see palpus which has characteristic shape (more or less triangular, with prominent apical seta almost perpendicular to the long axis of palpus).

Thank you very much for your very responsive response and your explanations. I found this thread where mention is made of single silk on the palp of subobscura. Here, it would therefore be another species of the obscura group, since it seems that there are two setae (?).

Jan Maca
I would stay at "obscura group". The species of this group are difficult to identify; the more difficult are females and still more difficult are photos which do not show enough details (e. g. oviscapt).
