Hi, This flat critter landed on my trousers in a pine forest on the Island of Usedom in August. I bet it is Lipoptena cervi (Hippoboscidae). Regards, Sundew |

It's Lipoptena, can't tell from the pictures whether it's cervi or fortisetosa. But the date might help: June - August -> fortisetosa August - November -> cervi Theo |

So August is the worst month for decision...  The date was, however, 28. August, therefore I will name the fly L. cf. cervi. Many thanks, Sundew |
