Tachinidae-> Baumhaueria tibialis, new species to hungarian fauna
varganimrod
Hello! I caught this one today, in Hungary. I would say, that this is the Baumhaueria goniaeformis. But I’m not sure, because of the genus Admontia. Could you help me please?

Yes, definitely Baumhaueria, but there are more species in this genus …

Thanks! As I see, there could be two species in Hungary. Microps and goniaeformis. My key writes, that in goniaeformis, the scutellum has a really big yellow part, so the scutellum’s half is yellow. Then, this is microps, because in the pictures definitely not. Is there any other features what can help?

Zeegers
Yes, I agree it is not goniaeformis, but it could be tibialis.

I hapen to possess a series of microps from Pindos and all have dark tibiae.
Also Cerretti (2010) apparently is the only one to treat all three species and yes, other features agree with tibialis (wing venation, arista).

So, it seems to be Baumhaueria tibialis, which is an extremely rare species.

Please submit to the gallery !

Thank you very much! Then, this is a new species for hungarian fauna. This has been caught in Poland and French yet, but then, in Hungary as well. So the main feature is the red tibia.

Zeegers
and the not completely thickened arista (top quarter slender ) and other features invisible in pics.

Thank you!
