Hello, In the south of France on 18 April 2023. Body length: 7 mm. Total length to wing tips 8.3 mm. I thought Xylota but the light hairy bands on the abdomen and the very transparent wings make me doubt. Thank you for your advice Edited by Liliane D on 20-04-2023 10:00 |

The antennae do not remind me of Xylota. |

Thank you very much Dave, That sounds like an excellent suggestion. I had not heard of the Eumerus before and I am very happy to have met one. I see that there are many species and I don't know what makes them different. With the spaced eyes, I assume it is a female? |

Either Eumerus funeralis or striagatus (female). You can see the differences well described on Steven Falk's Flickr-pages. |

Thank you very much, Steven Falk's photos and descriptions are very accurate. In my one photo I am not sure I can see the distinguishing criteria. I note that the identification is between the two species. |
