Tachinidae, Carcelia?
varganimrod
Hi,
Hungary, 2023.05.
There were a lot of these species. About my key this is Carcelia. But I’m not sure in this. This is just a 5-6 mm long species.
There are two as small Carcelia-s in Hungary. And these two are the only one, where apicals are smaller than laterals in the scutellum. Deflection of m is about 90 degrees, so I would say that this has to a Carcelia falenaria. What do you think? Is this ID correct?

Could be. Check the genitalia (Tschorsnig & Herting, available via Chris Raper’s website). you can check in situ.

Thank you! But is the genus sure? How is Chris Raper’s website called? I can’t find it.

Google "raper tachinidae"

Thank you! I found the page, and some literature about Carcelia, but what you mentioned isn’t in that website, I wrote the authors name to the literature-browser and the name of genus as well.
