Brachycera (Tanzania) => Calliphoridae: cf. Cordylobia sp.
ESant
Hello,

I photographed this fly in the Serengeti National Park, Tanzania, 1500m a.s.l. on February 18th 2023. I'm not even sure of the family it may belong to. Could you help me with its identification? Unfortunately it flew away before I could take more photos.

Thank you in advance,
Emanuele

That should be some "Calliphoridae" (which is not monophyletic, hence the "Wink

I am not into Afrotropical once. Pity we can't see the mouth parts, it just might be a very weird Bengalia.

Looks like a species of Cordylobia "maybe" and if so a good thing it flew away.

Thank you both very much for your help! Cordylobia seems to be a very good option indeed. I didn't know such parasites could be found in the area.
