Hello, In 03/08/2023 I collected a Tachinidae specimen from an urban park in Athens. Using Moschweb and the book of Cerretti (2010) concerning Italian Tachinidae, I managed to key it out as Zeuxia tricolor (Portshinsky, 1881). However, I would like your opinion too concerning the validity of this identification. Below, I present the characters used for reaching genus and species level, plus some photos. Generic ascription [Moschweb]: 1) Eyes bare. 2) Parafacials entirely hairy. 3) Facial ridge hairless. 4) Posteroventral part of the occiput with a mix of black and whitish hairs. 5) Arista pubescent. 6) Palpus black. 7) Tegulae black and basicostae reddish. 8) Second costal segment pubescent below. 9) Cell r4+5 open. 10) Abdominal tergites 3 and 4 without median discal setae. Specific identification (Cerrutti): 1) Eyes bare. 2) Proepisternum bare. 3) Syntergite 1+2 without mediomarginal bristles. 4) Median depression of syntergite 1+2 reaching the posterior margin. 5) Parafacial hairy. 6) Fronto-orbital plane of the female with 2 proclinate orbital bristles. 7) Female postpedicel 1.2-1.5 as long as pedicel. 8) Female palpus with distal part thickened but not swollen. |
