Hello, This Tachinidae specimen was collected in 01/03/2023 in Attica, Greece by my colleague. I tried to key it out at genus using Moschweb and, based on the inputting characters, it turned out as Nilea sp. However, I checked the known species of the genus for Europe and none seems to match. So, I believe that I have input something wrong in the matrix. Below, I provide photos of the specimen and the input I used in Moschweb. I'd value your opinion on its true identity and what character you think I chose wrong. Thanks! Moschweb input: (1) EYE -Eye pubescent; with hairs, generally abundant, longer than the diameter of 3 eye facets (14) PARAFACIAL SETAE -parafacial entirely bare below lowest frontal seta (18) SETAE OF FACIAL RIDGE -... with setae on approx. 2/3 or more of its length (24) VENTRAL PART OF OCCIPUT -postero ventral part of head with a majority of white, yellowish, red or light brown hairs (27) COLOUR OF ANTENNAL PEDICEL -pedicel black or uniformly dark brown (31) PUBESCENCE OF ARISTA -arista apparently bare; if pubescent, then hairs at most reaching length of basal diameter of arista (37) COLOUR OF PALPUS -black or dark brown (40) PROSTERNAL SETULAE -prosternum with at least one pair of setulae on lateral margin (48) SUPRAALAR SETAE -first postsutural supra-alar seta longer than notopleural setae and longer and stronger than first postsutural intra-alar seta (49) KATEPISTERNAL SETAE -three ... (52) SCUTELLUM COLOUR -scutellum mainly red or yellowish (56) APICAL SCUTELLAR SETAE -apical setae crossed, horizontal or tilted upwards by at most 30° (64) WING COLOUR -wing membrane unpatterned: hyaline, whitish or slightly darkened (66) BASICOSTA COLOUR -black or dark brown (72) VEIN CuA1 -vein CuA1 bare (78) PETIOLE [STALK] -cell r4+5 open [or vein m not reaching wing margin] (82) MID TIBIA -... with five or more anterodorsal setae (93) MEDIAN DISCAL SETAE ON TERGITES 3 AND 4 -tergites 3 and 4 with median discal setae |
