Today I found this fly (about 10-12 mm) on the loft of my house. It has a golden shine, Could it be a Pollenia? I kept the fly in a pot. So I could make other pictures if needed. Which parts of the fly are essential for the species name? Albert de Wilde |

Albert - It is very difficult to name Pollenia from live specimens. With few exceptions, they can only be reliably named by examining the genitalia - not something to be attempted with even the most co-operative live specimen! ![]() Tony ---------- Tony Irwin |
