Two different Phaonia's ??
javanerkelens
I made several photographs of according to me the same fly..
But at home, it proved to be nevertheless two different fly's. Grin
Are both Phaonia species ??
The first fly seems to have no apicaal brushes at the frontleg, also is it more grey at the top of the scutum, whit les brushes
And it seems that the M1 vein is differend.

I hope that someone can help...Wink

The lack of orange, except for the tip of the scutellum, seems to point to Muscina levida, but I think you would need a good view of the face, to establish if the palps are black as well, to be sure.

Fortunately...I had another photo of the face....

Because of the overall dark appearance my vote goes to levida.

Many thanks !!

I think it is time for me that I learn more about the Muscidae, but there is so little to find in books or determination files about Muscidae..

Now I am only learning from my mistakes and to look good at photo's from others and from the Diptera Gallery..Grin
