Hello, Last month I caught this specimen in Limburg, the Netherlands. In a limestonequarry. What species is this? We are confused by the key of Czerny, what should be the wimpern? Kinds regards Yours sincerely, Luc Elshout Jong? Natuur? NJN Natuurlijk! www.njn.nl www.jeugdbondsuitgeverij.nl |

Quoting Czerny's description of H. breviciliata: "Randborsten der Flügel äußerst kurz, unter den ebenfalls kurzen Wimpern ganz ver schwindend." I believe Randbosrsten (Flügelrandborsten) are the bristles on the costa typical of Heleomyzidae, while Wimpern in the context of a wing are the small hairs found on the costa of many flies. |

Hello John, Thanks for your reply. Then it should be serrata. Does anyone know if there is a difference in genitalia? Or is that not known or is there no difference? Yours sincerely, Luc Elshout Jong? Natuur? NJN Natuurlijk! www.njn.nl www.jeugdbondsuitgeverij.nl |
