oddish Lonchoptera tristis from south of France
MatsDipt
Hello,
from decommissioned railway-tunnels in the Département de l’Ardèche, France. Collected at mid August 2016, altitude 166m and 662m.
Size 4mm
How variable is L. tristis across europe and how much variation is possible within populations?
My experience in L. tristis is limited to a few 100 individuals from the southwest of Germany and neighboring areas from caves and woodland but I never had recognized a high variation or seen L. tristis like this.
The animals share characters of L. tristis and L. strobli.

the following aberrant characteristics are the same for 4 males and 3 females:
Femur 1 with 3 dorsal bristle in distal 1/3, Tibia 3 not thickened in male, enlarged setae at first section of costa, much brighter colour especially on the head and no pruinosity all over.

But Tibia 2 curved and shape of genitalia fits nearly well to L. tristis also all other characteristics of chaetotaxy.

One true L. tristis male was collected from the same spot.

I welcome opinions and advice on these animals and thank you in advance for your answers

greets mats
