The Suillia
Nikita Vikhrev
In our exchange of material I've got from Gerard Pennards this wonderful Suillia from Madeira, end of Jan.
Meso- and pteropleura with hairs, 8-12mm.
S.innotata or S.oceana?

If oceana, it should have the tip of the palp blackened. If the scutellum is hairy all over, it's tuberiperda; if not it could be either notata or innotata: genitalia to be sure.

Thank you Phil.
Than Suillia oceana, apical half of palpi are blackish.
I didn't find in www any trace of any key or discription, do you have some?

I am (slowly) working on a revison of Suillia, and use my key (to the British fauna), parts of Die Fliegen and Gorodkov...plus my own collection !. There are some synonyms that require confirmation, and at least one new species. I'll publish it one day (I've been saying that for 15 years !)

A slightly less than subtle hint ! I will try my best to get something out in 2008 - but don't hold me to it !
