Back from hibernation! Spring had a slow start in Holland, and so had I. But today I spotted my first Tachinid near where I work. Rather smallish, say 7 mm. A bit like Exorista, but what about the flight time? In bushes bordering grassland with atificial pond, well sheltered against wind. Quite a few around.

On second thoughts, the last one is relatively surely Phryxe nemea. The others ones are most likely Phryxe, possibly Ph. nemea. Theo |

So the copulants are certain? What feature is deciding for these flies?
