Musca ?
Perseus
Hello,

This is a picture of a common fly from June 2005.

www.glaucus.org.uk/Fly013.jpg

Is it Musca domestica, the Common House Fly? I suspect it is a near
species, if it is not. Musca autumnalis was considered to be favourite ID.
I hope I have got the type of fly correct as I am going on general
impressions rather than specifics.

It may seem silly, but I never took a look at pests under the magnifying glass when I was young, and now I cannot see so clearly without my digital camera.

Cheers

Can't be sure about ID, but it is NOT Musca domestica.
It could very well be Musca autumnalis, however.

best guess, I would say

Thanks for the replies.

Glad you can see it. Too big for Musca domestica, although you cannot see this. I thought the best match was Musca autumnalis.
