Suillia?
Nikita Vikhrev
Sochi region, Black sea, 05.III, 5-6mm, forest.
1 or, 1+4 dc - Suillia?
Inside Suillia, my key ask me questions I need material to compare to answer. Arista is long hairy, so it is not S. nemorum with siutable wing colour.
Arista with very long hair - S.variegata
Arista with long hair - S. notata/affinis.
Help, please!

Hi Nikita,

From the key of P. Withers (The British species of the genus Suillia (Diptera, Heleomyzidae), including a species new to science.-- Proc. Trans. Br. Ent. Nat. Hist. Soc. 20, 1987: 91-104), the following pictures give the difference between "arista with very long hair" (VI) and "arista with long hair" (VII). Maybe this will be of some help to you!

By the way, your specimens looks like Suillia variegata to me, but I'm no specialist.

Hi Jan.
Thank you Jan.
I think that your illustrations solves the problem. Arista plumage is badly visible on my photo, but surely it is VI. As far as I understand now, it means that "arista plumage wider than 3-d arista segment", which lead us to S. variegata (unfortunely no information about presence or absence of dark spots on the wings).
