Very cute
Isidro
Although mediterranean robberfly threads usually never have an answer, sometimes someone receive some answer and for this reason I try it again.
This pretty-faced robberfly was found yesterday at Pe?aflor, Zaragoza, NE Spain, at 300 meters, continental-mediterranen climate, in a salty dried marsh covered completely with Suaeda vera and Brachypodium retusum with patches of Phragmites and Tamarix. The fly sizes about 12 mm.

Hi Isidro.

This cute fly is Glyphotriclis ornatus. Thank you for the nice description of the fly's habitat.

Wow!!!! to SPECIES level and in the same day!!!! Many, many, many thanks!

This species is exclusive of these salty habitats?

Thanks again,
Isidro

Hi Isidro,

It is possible that Glyphotriclis ornatus is specific to this habitat - I'm not sure. Many 'Laphystiini' (the group this genus belongs to) prefer such habitats (fine, alkaline/ silty soil with salt-tolerant vegetation). It is good to learn that this fly was found in such a habitat.

Regards, Eric
