Why not Chironomidae?

Teglagyar u. 30.

I wish I knewSad
My reasons was:
1. Venaition. Too complex. And it seems that M1+2 forked.
2. There are a lot of Chaoborus larvae in my pond. It has to exist imago too...

We shill have not Chaoboridae image in Gallery.

Hi Nikita,

WOW, great picture of the larva!

I have no experience with Chaoboridae but it looks to me that you are right. For as far as I can see in the picture, more than 8 veins are reaching the wing margin what would mean, if I have understood correctly, that it is not a chironomid.

Thank you Jan.
So, it seems to me. Please glance a look at wing, 9 vein reach wing margin, correct?

I checked the wing venation on the prepared wing and that seems to be correct for Chaoboridae. I will add them to the gallery later. Smile

Thank you Paul.
I think I can give full name.
Tarsus 1-st segment longer than 2-d - Chaoborus,
f and t without dark rings - not Ch. pallidus;
Abdomen unicolor, dark grey, f unicolor - Ch. crystallinus, larvae in ponds, where photo of both larvae and imago has beeen made.
