Asilidae, Stichopogon ? from Romania

Hi, today (31.august.2008) found this very small asilid (~3-4mm). is from the same genus like the one from Rui thread: http://www.dipter...d_id=15448 ?? several specimens seen but not easy to photo them. some specimens collected. can be IDed further? thanks in advance, cosmln |

Hi Cosmin, Yes, this is Stichopogon sp., and it very probably is scaliger Loew - which is indeed known from Romania. Very nice photos of these little flies! Your Stichopogon looks just the same as Rui's - which leads me to think that his is also S. scaliger (even though scaliger is not yet reported in the literature from Spain or Portugal).
