last weekend on Texel, NL, this Sarcophagid fly.
might anyone know its ID, I would be thnakful

I suppose you meant Scathophagidae. It is one, I think Norellia (spinipes).

Norellia spinipes is a spring species associated with Daffodil.

SO this should be Norelliosoma spinimana (not the same species !)

I have looked at the key of British Scathophagidae given in link by Tony Irwin in another thread, and I think it's Norellia : the wings are slightly clouded (as they have to be in Norellia spinipes), I can see only one row of spines on t1 (other row could be hidden), the dc are out of focus, but it seems there is only one postutural pair, and the book say :
[...]Most records are for the Spring (April to
June) when adults are usually found on daffodil leaves, but there are also
October records which seem to always relate to females.[...]

Tried to attach an image to a forum post. jpg, 32kB, 72dpi, no blanks, ... File name is correctly displayed, but when I click "Preview Thread" it just vanishes. Help!
