Photographed in Mid-June in my garden in Mossbank,Shetland Isles.

It looks like a female Platycheirus, very probably P. scutatus.

Thanks for that Stephane. The guy on my local website had it down as P.albimanus which I thought was wrong.
If this is P.scutatus it is only the second record for Shetland, and the first since June 1993.

Tried to attach an image to a forum post. jpg, 32kB, 72dpi, no blanks, ... File name is correctly displayed, but when I click "Preview Thread" it just vanishes. Help!
