 Scatophaga catching Phaonia at light (15.11.08)

Hello! This night it has very mild temperatures (11 °C even now at 4 o'clock) for mid November here (northwest Germany). So I went out to look for some insects in the garden. Many flies and midges at the light, that also attracted predators... The Scatophaga below (over 10 mm, with long, slender wings; perhaps S. scybalaria? or more likely furcata?) flew several attacks on a large Polietes, but that prey was too big. More luck it had with an 8 mm Phaonia subventa female, which it could grab. But after a struggle of about three or four minutes, the Phaonia could free itself, and both combatants rested next to each other in the light of my lamp.
