Fannia cf lustrator, Fanniidae, Hungary, May 2oo6
Xespok
A Phaonia sp? April, broad leaved forest habitat.

Unofortunately the weather was very windy, so the images are quite bad.

Anyone has an opinion on this? It is unlikely to be a Phaonia. Anyone has an idea?

The wing veination tells me that it is Fanniidae. Nikita will say more.

It's not Piezura. I don't think it is Euryomma.
Very few males Fannia with yellow abdomen and legs like this.
Fannia ornata
Fannia vespertilionis
I hope I am on the right track.

How about Fannia hamata? This species should have a femur that abruptly broadens, which is visible in the images, especaially the first one. The coloration also fits relatively well. Large size fits well, too. (F. hamata is the largest Fannia sp in Hungary.)
