Hi,

Could it be an Ephydridae? And are you sure it is parasitizing the coccinellid?

Thanks for the replies,
It was my idea too, that it was just resting.
I know of diptera that parasitise pupea, but not adult ladybirds, do you?

Any answers on question 2?
Or links maybe?

1. Instead of fly I can give you ladybird's name - Calvia decemguttata.
2. If you search in google "coccinellidae parasite", you will find a lot of parasites.

Thanks, Nikita, I knew that! Smile
I recently made a photoseries on dinocampus coccinellae, a parasitic wasp and will be looking out for Tachinibdae on pupae.
But thanks anyway!

The fly belongs to Hydrellia (Ephydridae), a genus of plant miners.

The most famous dipterous parasites of ladybirds are the Phalacrotophora scuttleflies (Phoridae). We've discussed this genus before in this thread.

I remember Kahis,
It is soon that time of the year again and I want to study it better this time.
This spring I made a photoshoot of Dinocampus coccinellae (a wasp) http://stippen.nl...campus.php and I want to make a simular series on the scuttleflies, but am still looking for other parasites.
I know there must be more wasps en flies that bother coccinellidae
